The
BSLT was started in 1961 by Sue Livingston, and quickly became one of the leading
Tennis schools in the country. Sue developed the name of the BSLT by producing
some great players including some junior Wimbeldon champions.
Sue started off a training scheme for coaches before the LTA had anything up
and running. She coached various national teams and sent coaches to various
parts of the country. Sue is currently the president of the British Womens Tennis
Association.
In November 1992 Godwin Johnson, a Nigerian professional player, took over the running of the BSLT and still owns the school. In 2002, the BSLT received accreditation from the LTA as one of only 120 Performance Tennis Centres in the country.
